Old soul — new game! A modern remake of Midi Maze, the first multiplayer FPS ever

Available now on Steam

What is Smiley Battle?

Smiley Battle is a simple, friendly multiplayer first person shooter. You control a big smiley, move it through a maze-like environment, and when you see another smiley, you throw color bags at it. You never know what is waiting for you behind your next turn in the maze, or whether someone is sneaking up behind you unnoticed, about to give you a nice paint job.

Bringing Back Midi Maze

Smiley Battle is meant as a modern remake of Midi Maze, which was the very first multiplayer first person shooter game with fluid movement and visible shots. Midi Maze ran on a network of Atari ST computers linked together via their MIDI ports. Smiley Battle revives that legendary gameplay with new graphics, new maps, sixteen powerups, smart bots, and easy internet matchmaking for up to fifteen players.

Pure, Simple Fun

No leaderboards. No achievements. No in-game monetization. Just quick singleplayer or multiplayer fun with friends — or with strangers you randomly get thrown into a match with.

See it, get it

Smiley Battle needs no words: no text, no tutorial, just symbols and numbers — anyone gets it in seconds. You read every smiley's health right off its face, from a smile through serious to horrified. Anyone hit wobbles like a soap bubble about to pop. Burst when you are knocked-out. Whoever is in the lead wears a crown. Take a few hits and your smile fades; if no one hits you for a while, it comes back — so a smart retreat keeps you in the game. Look, jump in, play.
